Assistant Manager

Part time position (25-30 hours weekly) with hope of becoming full time (40 hour).

Responsibilities

  • Working with Manager in day to day operation of the store, and its volunteers and staff
  • Help recruit, train and monitor volunteers. Delegate and motivate staff and volunteers
  • Assist in delivering exceptional customer service
  • Monitor health and safety in store and work areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements

Volunteer Management Certificate an asset

Experience Requirements

Previous experience managing volunteers in a retail setting

Desired Skills

  • Understand retail sales, leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/volunteer organizations
  • Understand all federal and provincial legislation applicable to volunteer organizations including, employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities etc.;
  • Basic knowledge of human resources management;
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and email management would be an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
